On May 30-31, 20 members of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber paid an official visit to the Kaliningrad region. The delegation was headed by the Chamber director for Regional Affairs Sergei Bykov.
During the two-day visit, organized with the assistance of the Development Corporation of the region, the heads of Russian representative offices of German companies met with the leadership of the Ministry of Economics of the Kaliningrad region, got acquainted with successful companies created with the involvement of foreign investments.
Thus, the delegation of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber visited the Hipp factories in Mamonovo and one of the Kaliningrad BMW AG production sites, as well as the assembly workshops of the "Avtotor" holding company. Representatives of German companies also visited private and state industrial parks. Deputy General Director Oleg Skvortsov accompanied the delegation during its visit to Khrabrovo and negotiations in the Development Corporation. He spoke about the new provisions of the law on the Kaliningrad Special Economic Zone, the existing benefits for SEZ residents and the prospects for localizing production in the Kaliningrad region.
"The economic ties of the Kaliningrad region with business circles in Germany have a great and positive history. The annual trade turnover between our region and the federal states of Germany is increasing. New directions are emerging in it. Amendments to the law on SEZ, which came into force on January 1, will give new impetus to economic cooperation with the westernmost region of Russia. Tax preferences, the updated transport infrastructure for the World Cup, a network of private investments, a stable economic situation and support for the region of the federal center all set the stage for future projects. This business mission is not the first this year. In general, they allow investors to assess the opportunities of the region on the ground, ask government members and representatives of development institutions about the effective points, establish new contacts with Kaliningrad companies", Oleg Skvortsov said during a meeting at the Development Corporation.
